Last Wednesday four classes of year 8 students took part in an exciting science workshop delivered by visitors from Learn by Design.

The Green Drive workshop explored sustainability, renewable energy, the future of transport and the careers related to these, to tie in with their recent learning in science around climate change. The workshop ultimately saw students working in teams to build, charge, test and race a mini electric car. One team managed to get their car to travel over 8 metres on a single charge! Throughout the activity, the students were getting a hands-on insight into what it’s like to be an engineer using the ‘design – test – improve’ model as well as developing their skills in problem-solving and teamwork.
