Admissions to Derby Cathedral School Sixth Form

We hope you find this page useful to support your application to our Sixth Form.

Sixth Form Open Evening:

Tuesday 6th October 2026 from 5:30pm - 7:30pm

We warmly invite you to visit our school, meet our staff, find out what Level 3 qualifications are available from September 2027 and discover what Sixth Form life is really like at Derby Cathedral School.

There is no need to book, but please arrive for a prompt 5:30pm start.

We hope you will find it valuable to visit our provision and gather all the information you need to make your application to study here at Derby Cathedral School starting in September 2027.

Applications for 2027 Entry

Applications will open during our Open Evening on Tuesday 6 October at 5:30pm.

The closing date for applications: Sunday 31st January 2027.

Everyone is welcome to apply to join our Sixth Form provided they meet our entry requirements as outlined in our Prospectus. This Prospectus includes full details about our Sixth Form including our wide curriculum offer and application process. You will also find specific Level 3 subject pages for each of the courses we have on offer, including their specific entry requirements so you can make informed choices.

Subject Videos

Please find subject specific videos for each of our current Level 3 courses below. These videos will give you a quick overview of the course content for each subject and should be used in conjunction with our Prospectus. We hope that they assist you in making the correct course choices and support your application to our Sixth Form.

Our curriculum subjects are a mixture of A Level and equivalent vocational courses, so students will be able to pick any combination. Most students will choose to study three subjects.

Note that Core Maths and the EPQ form part of our enrichment offer and so must be chosen as a fourth subject. Further Mathematics must also be studied as a fourth subject, with A Level Mathematics already one of your three choices.
