“Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example…in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.”
1 Timothy 4:12
Here at Derby Cathedral School we want every student to feel safe and happy and to be the very best version of themselves.
The Pastoral Team
If there is anything that is worrying you? It might be school work, homework or friendship issues, anything at all, please ask to speak in the first instance to your child’s Form Tutor. They may in turn speak to your child’s Head of Year. You can contact your child’s Form Tutor or Head of Year by phoning 01332 325710 or emailing info@derbycathedralschool.org.uk
Safeguarding
If you have concerns about the safety of yourself, your friends or family, then please speak to one of the safeguarding team. See our safeguarding page and safeguarding policy for more information. We have also created a Parent Information Leaflet on Safeguarding and Wellbeing which you may also find useful. See our Safeguarding page for more information.
Heads of Year
Year groups at Derby Cathedral School are led by a Heads of Year. This member of staff has overall responsibility for the behaviour, attendance and attainment of that year group. Tutors meet with their tutor group every morning to get set up for the day. They follow a tutor programme of Collective Worship.
Our programme of Collective Worship at DCS is varied and includes:
- Guided reading of a text chosen by the English Department
- Literacy and numeracy activities
- Discussion of news items via websites such as Newsround
- Discussion of the week’s Picture News
- Discussion of key international days or charity events such as Harvest, Black History Month, Remembrance, International Languages Week etc.
See our Collective Worship page for more information.
FAITH
Our FAITH values inform all aspects of life at DCS, whether that is our approach to safeguarding, behaviour, teaching and learning or future careers.
We rewards students regularly for demonstrating these values and they are prominently displayed around school. The values are:
- Fellowship
- Aspiration
- Integrity
- Tenacity
- Humility
