Welcome to Year 10
The Head of Year 10 is Miss M Bird and the the Pastoral Year Lead is Miss A Gordon
Year 10 is a year of opportunity, growth, and discovery. It is the moment where students start shaping their own path — exploring new subjects, developing confidence, and realising what drives them.
This year isn’t just about preparing for exams; it’s about preparing for life. Every challenge which students face and every goal that is set, helps to build the habits, resilience, and mindset that will carry students into the final years and beyond. It will be a year where students will be embedding and developing their skills and work ethic that will enable them to flourish and succeed. The FAITH values will be at the heart of everything that the students do.
During this year, students will begin to shape their future pathways – exploring subjects that spark interest, building essential study habits and developing a greater independence and responsibility. They will be thinking ahead to where they want their learning pathways to take them beyond Derby Cathedral School. They will be taking part in work experience, which will help students develop essential career and life skills, gain real-world knowledge and supports students to stand out when seeking jobs and further education.
Not only is it vital for our students to reach their academic potential, but it is also important that we focus beyond the classroom. We hope to provide students with numerous opportunities of extra-curricular, trips and rewards and starting to look forward to a Year 11 Prom Committee.
Year 10 is the chance to take ownership of learning. It is a time for discovery, reflection and preparation, by dreaming big, and starting to turn those dreams into direction.
