We are delighted to share news of progress on site at the Former Friar Gate Goods Yard. As you can see from the pictures below (taken at the end of last week), work is very much underway as huge amounts of steel are being delivered on a daily basis. Works on the foundations for the school are up and running and the playing fields are being levelled and laid.

The construction team are working within the current restrictions set out by the Government to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and additional welfare facilities have been installed on site to facilitate this. Clearly, whilst progress is being made, the current restrictions may delay some elements of the build, for example if the delivery of key supplies is affected. We are being kept up to date by the DfE on progress and are currently working closely with them on the signing of the main build contract which will include a target date for completion.

We have requested that the site team continue to provide us with pictures showing progress as we are unable to visit the site ourselves. We would love to have involved our staff and students more closely as the site works get underway, but this is not possible for obvious reasons. However, we will pass on any news as we get it and keep sending update pictures so we can watch our new school buildings being created, albeit from afar.

Meanwhile, back at Midland House, work has started on preparing additional space ready for our new intake of pupils in September. Work is underway on testing electrical systems, heating and ventilation systems as planned, with more substantial works due to begin in the next two weeks. Our ICT partner, Colwyn Technologies, have visited the site on a number of occasions and are preparing to install additional ICT equipment ready for September.
